Why Chordian Angels?

Ok, some people have been asking why? Why Chordian Angels? What’s the point? Well… here’s a bit of context. Marina and I are both professionals in the creative industry. We’re both passionate about our industry and especially so about Music. We’re also both completely mad about self-development, coaching and healing methods. We see a lot of pain in the creative industries, and also a huge amount of untapped potential. The sector is in a huge state of flux right now, but even without all the turmoil, we’ve both seen from first hand experience just how hard it is to make it good if you’re a creative.

Last year we met at a talk by Mike Southon on how the Beatles were probably the most successful entrepreneurs in Britain that inspired us to start our own journey. Ultimately our dream has always been to contribute to making a positive change to the world. This meeting of minds, Marina and I, in the context of Mike’s great presentation put us in a place where we could see how we might realise this dream by focusing on our passion. We then met and talked, and met and visioned, and finally met and ranted. And out of this creative process, we developed a very specific service which we think will go a very long way towards making this world a better place.

Our specific dream is to create a global network of people dedicated to improving the entrepreneurial and creative skills of the music industry. Clearly it’s possible for bands to have an incredible impact on the world. And so we got to thinking that wouldn’t it be cool if we could help this process along by giving artists, agents and well anyone in the music or entertainment industries access to the people who could help them achieve their huge potential. Trainers and teachers of the arts of self development, creativity, relationships, branding and strategy.

You wouldn’t be alone in thinking that there are already systems in place. The industry is huge and on the face of it very successful. That’s where it bares a second look. People on the inside know. Music especially, is in a state of crippling flux. Crippling in the sense that the old ways of doing things that gave stability and clarity are being pulled from under the rug. Flux in terms of the rate and size of change. This is a hugely destabilizing time for our artists and managers.

Equally this is a huge time of opportunity, and this is where Chordian Angels wants to step in. We are advocates of change. We see this as the perfect opportunity to find ways of doing things differently. When such a wholesale shift occurs, it opens people’s minds to new ideas. This is the time to do something differently. To get to the edge of the cliff and jump. But to do this, sorry if I’m stretching this analogy, but to do this people need wings. They needs new skills and disciplines to help them make the most of these new opportunities. There’s loads of skills to learn, but the top one in our way of thinking is the skill of being authentic. Some call it congruent or plainly getting your head together! Without clarity of purpose. Without an understanding of who you are, why you’re here and where you’re going, you’ll never know how you’re going to get there. The skills you learn will be pointless without the real discipline of knowing your own mind.

We’d like Chordian Angels, people like you, people with experience of the industry, with experience of coaching, mentoring and training. We’d like artists, managers and coaches, and other experts from the industry to come together and share their knowledge and experience with each other. We see this network growing around the world and into every culture. Music is boundaryless and travels across cultures. We can see how this could be a mutual and shared interest community which meets via the digital channels of communication. We also imagine symposia, events and workshops. One to one training and coaching. Books, videos and comprehensive education programmes dedicated to delivering support to the entertainment industry.

We also see this forming very quickly. In a very short space of time, we’ve come to realise this is huge, and has caught the attention of lots of wonderful people. We’re really looking forward to making this happen, and hope you’ll join us too.
